Challenging exec course on the way up
Second year course has been open for play after owner shut down for over 5 years. Fairways and greens were in good shape; discovered multiple times that the bunkers had good sand . The grounds overall aren’t that nice but has surrounding mountain views. Currently being run out of a trailer and no drinking water or beverage cart. Range and putting green adequate. Course was just right distance to walk without getting worn out. Challenging layout and reasonably priced. Staff is very friendly and chill. Definitely going back.
Snowbird here, staff was the friendliest in the valley this year!! Pace was great, lots of water - so had to play accordingly. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in great shape, and a great price as well!! Will definitely play again.
Great Deal
Lots of water (they don’t call it the Lakes for nothing!). Cool layout and fun to play. Unbelievably great deal for Phoenix area golf in the winter. One of the more challenging executive courses I have played. Well worth the time and money. Looks like it may have just re-opened? Temporary trailer for a clubhouse. No food/beverages. I never judge a course by what they offer in amenities, if you do this isn’t your place (yet). Hopefully they will add a true clubhouse. Greens were a little bumpy and most putts didn’t roll true. But a foursome under $100 in the winter can’t be beat. Best deal in Phoenix right now hand down.
A Great Work in Progress
Overall, a fun course! The greens and fairways were in quite good condition! The roughs were… really rough. However, considering where this course used to be, it’s easy to see that they are trying to revitalize is, which is a good thing. Overall, fairly affordable and a fun round.
Dave - General Manager
I was approached by a golfer a couple holes in and was told to stay off the fairway. I was surprised because when I can checked in, no one informed me that it was cart path only or that you start on hole 10. Not only was this golfer rude when he approached me, I later found out he was the general manager (Dave). He never mentioned working for the course but felt the need to rudely interrupt me in the middle of the hole to let me know where my cart should be. He was also playing in a fivesome ahead of us (we were a twosome) and they were all playing from different tees, slowing pace of play. For a course that is just reopening and trying to establish clientele, I was not impressed with the general manager’s behavior. People as rude as him should not work with the public. Thankfully, they have some awesome guys like Rich who cleaned our clubs and apologized for the experience. Hopefully, you don’t get stuck on the course with the GM. Because of him, I will not be back, hold any of my annual golf tournaments there or refer any of my family, friends or clients to this course because of my experience with this GM.
Hidden Gem
This is a great golf course to play . The different distances and course layout with hazards are truly challenging. This is one of the many reasons why I love playing this golf course. Staff is very friendly and professional. The greens run pretty fast and the fairways are amazing, a lot of work has gone into revamping the Lakes and its showing .
Definitely an Improvement
We haven't played this course in a while. It was a nice surprised to see how much it has improved. It was really nice to see that they redid the bathroom on hole 14/15. Greens looked great. Still some work to be done but overall it's looking much better.
Need some more services
Hard par 3 course will great in few years
Need to offer onsite beverages other than coke products.
course is coming back to life!
Been playing here for a few years now and they are most definitely bringing this course back to life. If you need a spot to work on your irons and short game, this is the place. Great bang for your buck!
Absolutely love this course!
It’s an executive course but it is still challenging with all the water. Some of the best fairway and bunker conditions. Jim Reynolds keeps the smiles all around he is amazing!
