Papago Golf Course

Papago Golf Course in Phoenix is one of the best public courses in Arizona. William Francis Bell, designer of Torrey Pines in San Diego, crafted the course from the rugged terrain at the base of Papago Buttes. Although it's only 15 minutes from downtown Phoenix, its location within Papago Park provides peace and seclusion. Originally opened in 1963, with renovations in 1977 and 2008, the club has hosted hundreds of events over the years, including the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship and the Phoenix Open Qualifying. The golf course is a whopping 7,333 yards from the back tees. In addition to length, there are a variety of strategically placed bunkers and mature trees. The scenery alone is worth the round, past the red rocks you can see the entire Phoenix skyline.
